Abyssmal Entertainment Announces Release of Hoodoo for Voodoo

ORLANDO, FLA., SEPTEMBER 30 – Abyssmal Entertainment releases Hoodoo For Voodoo: Unrated Director’s Cut to DVD October 14, 2008. Written & Directed by Steven Shea (The Night Owl), Hoodoo For Voodoo is a horror comedy featuring Linnea Quigley (Return Of The Living Dead, Silent Night Deadly Night), Tiffany Shepis (The Hazing, Die Delta Die), Lloyd Kaufman (Troma Team), Debbie Rochon (Bleed, American Nightmare) and Hollie Winnard (Zombies Zombies Zombies, Beauty & The Geek).

When a group of college kids win a trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, they soon find themselves on a rollercoaster ride of survival as bodies start piling up around them. After the workers at a local Voodoo tourist trap suddenly begin turning up dead, the group must band together and try to stay alive long enough to figure out who’s behind this wicked plot…or maybe not! Because, hey, who can be inconvenienced at the biggest party of the year?

Hoodoo for Voodoo special features include: Behind the Scenes, Blooper Reel, Auditions, Music Video, Making of the Theme Song and Trailers.

With looming Hurricane Ike on a crash course with South Florida, I thought I would update while things are still in the calm. My family has already evacuated the Keys, and we are hoping for the best, and the storm to turn south.

We wrapped principle photography on the "Xenombies" segment of Doomsday County this past week. The shoot went fairly smoothly over the course of 4 days at Full Sail University's Soundstages. We ran into a little trouble towards the end, but hopefully no one gets fired or expelled. You can check out the Myspace for new pictures, and the new Official Website will launch soon.

A couple of weeks back, I got the opportunity to shoot an editorial for "Hails & Horns Magazine" a national publication from the owners of "Amp Magazine" that focuses on Heavy Metal Music. The spread was for local clothing designers Evil Needles Clothing. Look for it on newsstands nationally in October!

I have spent the last day coloring a new line of Cartoon styled horror shirts that Evil Needles Clothing is designing, with out awesome Comic Book illustrator Luandra Whitehurst. I'll have some examples soon.

I just wrote a new script for a short film called "Shimmer" that will be directed by Jon Sawyer that will take part in our Orlando Film Industry Professionals Group Project.

I've been helping the amazing band T13C! for their trek for a record contract. This past month we shot a promo for Fox Sports (because they were named the official band of the Florida Gators) and just yesterday performed live on the Johnny & Jayde Morning Show on XL106.7 (One of the largest radio stations in Central Florida)

We are gearing up for Halloween, and expect to hear some pretty exciting Hoodoo For Voodoo news... October's going to be a crazy month!

It was just made aware to me that our first feature film "The Night Owl" is being released today in a 100 pack of movies! This will mark the 3rd video release for the film, the first being in the 4 pack titled "Wicked Intentions" (AVAILABLE IN THE ABYSSMAL SHOP!) and the next earlier this year in a 50 pack titled "Tomb Of Terrors". Today marks the release of the 100 movie pack titled "Bloody Nightmares". The pack also includes Jason Liquori's Werewolf extravaganza "The Lunar Pack". If you haven't seen "The Night Owl" you can grab a copy in the Shop!

I’m sure quite a few people are wondering what exactly we have going on right now at Abyssmal. I thought I would update you on a few projects we are working on…

HOODOO FOR VOODOO – Putting the final thoughts on Distribution. We should have a final decision in the next week or so on who we are going to go with.

DOOMSDAY COUNTY – is a new feature film that we are producing, and is currently in production. The film is split up into 4 segments, one is completed and the others will be shot over the rest of the year.

FLORIDA’S SLASH MASTERS – is a DVD series of some new short films from some of the best Independent Horror Directors in Florida. We are looking to shoot all of the projects by early 2009.

THE SOUND OF SCREAMING – is a Horror/Musical that I have been writing on and off for the past 2 years. No plans on shooting this anytime soon.

2:22 – is a short horror film that we are looking to direct and produce very soon. We are just waiting on getting access to the technology we need.

GUITAR GOD – is a short film that I will be directing of an Owl Goingback script. It is in participation of the Orlando Filmmakers Professional Meetup Group. We will be shooting in early September.

THE VANDYLS – is a 5 page comic book that we created for a contest with Students Of The Unusual. We will be using the art to pitch around for a potential distribution deal. We hope to turn it into an annual graphic novel.

STRATASAURUS REX – is still in production. We are modeling the characters and will have a finished pitch pilot soon.

UNTITLED STAINBOY DOCUMENTARY – We are in production of a Greg “Stainboy” Reinel Documentary about the famous rock poster artist’s life. We will be shooting different events and interviews over the next year.

We are also in different writing stages of a few other horror scripts for a few other projects. I’ve been really busy with photography too. I recently shot the August cover for aXis Magazine and also a Fashion spread of the Evil Needles Clothing for Hails & Horns Magazine’s September issue. Lots more coming soon!
